Provenance: Yolanda Eleta de Fierro Collection, great lady of Panamanian origin who became a reference of the Spanish high society after her marriage to the Asturian banker and businessman Ignacio Fierro Viña.
Measurements: 180 x 70 x 70 cm.
Sophisticated 19th century Chinese-made cabinet, English Chippendale style, made of black lacquered wood with a delicate chinoiserie decoration, reflecting the renewed Victorian taste for oriental exoticism inspired by the designs of Thomas Chippendale.
The cabinet is distinguished by its pagoda-shaped top, painted with an oriental lake landscape. The exterior doors show scenes with the Eight Taoist Immortals in a rocky, vegetal landscape, while the back of the doors are decorated with meticulously executed floral sherds.
Inside, the cabinet is organized in drawers of different sizes and small cabinets, with fronts richly ornamented with floral bouquets, birds and butterflies. They stand out for their lively and luminous polychromy, where gold, red, yellow and tan colors predominate on the black lacquered background, emulating oriental lacquer.
The piece of furniture rests on its original support table, also decorated with vegetal motifs, which has a cut and openwork skirt at waist height.
