The history of the Celine Tie bag (also known worldwide as the Tie Tote) dates back to the brand’s golden age. It officially debuted on the runway during Celine’s Winter 2013 collection. At that time, the brand completely dominated the fashion industry thanks to the cult-favorite bags created by Philo. Historically, the Tie Tote was designed as the successor and direct evolution of the Celine Phantom bag. Philo took the Phantom’s iconic trapezoidal silhouette and refined it by adding a top flap. The bag owes its name to its most distinctive aesthetic feature: the leather knots or “ties” located at the base of the handles.
