For 15 years, Manuel Suárez-Pumariega Molezún combined medicine with professional sports, even participating in the London 1948 Olympic Games. In 1955 he abandoned this facet to devote himself entirely to painting. Two years earlier, together with the architect Ramón Vázquez Molezum and the sculptor Amadeo Gabino, he had won the Grand Prize at the Milan Triennial for the assembly of the Spanish pavilion. With them he formed the MoGaMo group. It was during a trip to Rome and Paris where Molezún found his true vocation, when he met abstract and cubist painters such as Picasso and Juan Gris. His work has since been linked to geometric abstraction and constructivism along with other Galician representatives of this trend such as Luis Caruncho or Manuel Manpaso. His transgressive language is understood as a novelty within the Galician plastic arts. His work is distributed in numerous venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Unión Fenosa, the Galician Center of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art (Cuenca), Reina Sofía or the Juan March Foundation.
