DESCRIPTION

Fibula; Spain, 6th century BC.
Patinated bronze.
Measurements: 6 x 5 x 4 cm.
Crossbow fibula made of bronze with incised decoration in the form of geometric motifs. The fibulae are metallic pieces destined to hold garments. In addition to this functional factor, they were also used as ornamental objects, becoming luxury products and exponents of wealth. The function of a fibula is the fastening of garments; the sense of utility and functionality has made this object, changing shapes, models or decorations, has survived to the present day, constituting today our safety pins. In every fibula, we must consider the following parts: needle, head, bridge and foot.
