The Chimú culture was born in the northern coast of Peru after the fall of the Huari Empire, between the years 1000 and 1200. It is believed that its origin is found in the cultural fusion of the Mochica and the Lambayeque, although the Chimú based the foundation of their civilization on a myth, which narrates that ships arrived by sea to bring order to the kingdom, led by the god Tacaynamo, who governed the people of the Peruvian coast until his death. This culture excelled especially in urban planning, as evidenced by its formidable constructions, and also developed an important textile industry, pottery and an advanced metallurgical technique.
