This is an extremely unique and finely executed image of a Buddha in bronze. Standing, worked in round bulk, he adopts with one hand the Mudra Abbhaya, showing the right hand raised, the arm bent and the palm forward with the fingers upwards at the height of the shoulder, while the left hand hangs on the right side of the erect body. She poses her bare feet on a throne stepped at the bottom and with allusions to the lotus on the cushion part. The gesture indicates tranquility, security, absence of fear. It brings protection and divine blessing. In Theravada Buddhism it is proper to raise only the right hand. The same properties of the gesture are transmitted to the face, also serene and peaceful. The sublimity of the features stands out, as well as the fine details that describe the robe. We can identify numerous lakshana, iconographic symbols that identify the Buddhas. The first we see is the bun hairstyle, symbol of meditation, of spiritual life. Together with the half-closed eyes, a serene face is completed by the sketched smile, symbol of the balance and serenity of a perfect being. The elongated earlobes allude to the large earrings worn by members of the upper classes in India contemporary to Sakyamuni, and represent the concepts of greatness, nobility and wisdom.
