Two large fragments of Ushnishas, the "turbans" of Buddha, which on this occasion follow flamboyant models, topped with flames of sacred light. Ushnisha is the piece that is placed on the Buddha's head and symbolizes his enlightenment and great wisdom. It is a very common attribute in Buddhist art and iconography. Its presence does not seek to represent the historical Buddha but the special status related to the spiritual power, knowledge and religious ideals preached by Buddha. It is said to be one of the 32 marks of a "superior person" (mahapuru?a), whether he has attained the state of Buddhahood or a Chakravartin.
