The Cuirs du Désert by Hermès is an iconic silk scarf designed by French artist Françoise de La Perrière, one of the most influential designers in the history of the maison’s carrés. Known for her fascination with equestrian traditions and nomadic cultures, De La Perrière devoted much of her work to capturing the richness of the artisanal heritage of different peoples around the world.
The Cuirs du Désert design pays homage to the leatherwork of desert peoples, particularly the elaborate saddles, harnesses, shields, and ornamental objects used by cultures in North Africa and the Middle East.
