DESCRIPTION
Pair of glasses; France, Second Empire, c. 1860.
Baccarat crystal mounted on gilt bronze.
Measurements: 33 x 21 cm (x2).
Pair of finely cut Baccarat crystal goblets, mounted on a gilt and chiseled bronze base.
These exceptional pieces present a delicate and meticulous work of the crystal, adorned with diamond-tipped motifs that multiply the light reflections, accentuating the transparency and brilliance characteristic of the best Baccarat crystal. This type of decoration, of great technical precision, gives the vases a rich texture that plays with the light in a subtle and elegant way, enhancing their presence in any decorative space.
The square base, made of mercury-gilded bronze, is richly ornamented with finely chiseled motifs, an example of the virtuosity of 19th century bronze artists.
Beyond their ornamental function, these pieces reflect the luxury and high level of craftsmanship of the Baccarat manufacture, whose production was highly valued both in France and in the European courts. The ensemble conveys a serene and balanced majesty, testimony to the cultural and decorative refinement of the 19th century.
