DESCRIPTION
JOHANNES HEDEGAARD (Denmark, 1912-1999) for Royal Copenhagen.
Faun's head.
Glazed ceramic.
Marked with Royal Copenhagen stamp, numbered and signed inside.
In good general condition according to the antique.
Measurements: 37 cm (height).
Expressive faun's head in glazed ceramic designed by Johannes Hedegaard, which combines naturalism and a marked formal stylization. The face, with serene and idealized features, is combined with the animal elements -horns and ears- treated with greater dynamism, achieving a balanced synthesis between the human and the mythological. The surface, enriched by a glaze of nuanced tones, accentuates the volumes and adds depth and tactile richness to the whole.
Johannes Hedegaard is considered one of the leading figures of 20th century Danish sculpture. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, he developed a work focused on the human figure, characterized by his ability to combine formal synthesis and expressive charge. His work is present in major public collections, such as the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen, as well as in important Scandinavian institutional collections.
