Sketch of landscape character made with synthetic and structural stroke, in which the artist represents an urban corner with popular architecture and bare trees, solved by means of a fast and constructive line.
This type of sketches, conceived as studies from life, were part of the artist's creative process and show his attention to the structure of the landscape and the immediate capture of the motif.
Daniel Vázquez Díaz lived in Paris between 1906 and 1918, where he came into contact with the avant-garde and developed a personal language close to moderate cubism. On his return to Spain he established himself as a key figure of artistic modernity, standing out both for his painting and his teaching.
He was professor of mural painting at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando and author of important mural projects, among them those of the Monastery of La Rábida.
His works are preserved in institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao and the Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla.
