Although much of Osmund Hansen's production focused on landscape, marine and genre scenes, his work also reveals an interesting exploration of abstraction, including its geometric aspect. In these compositions, the artist adopts a freer and more experimental language, where color acquires an absolute protagonism and the brushstroke becomes more gestural, energetic and expressive.
Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Hansen developed a solid academic base that allowed him to move naturally between figuration and abstraction. Throughout the 20th century he maintained a constant activity, participating regularly in exhibitions in Denmark and consolidating a coherent trajectory within the Scandinavian art scene.
