CARLES NADAL FARRERAS (Paris, 1917 – Sitges, Barcelona, 1998).
Untitled.
Mixed media on paper.

A coastal scene rendered with great chromatic freshness, using broad, transparent brushstrokes of spontaneous line. Against a background dominated by light and deep blues, Nadal depicts a beach landscape with boats suspended or beached, billowing clouds, a fence, a small hut, and barely hinted-at human figures. The composition conveys a sense of lightness and movement, as if the image had been captured in the moment, almost like a visual impression of the place.
Carles Nadal Farrera was a Catalan painter born in Paris and closely connected to Sitges. He developed a luminous and expressive style of painting, focusing on landscapes, seascapes, interiors, and Mediterranean scenes, with a vivid palette and a brushstroke rooted in Fauvism. He exhibited internationally, and his work is held in collections such as the MACBA, as well as in museums in Brussels and other Belgian institutions.
