Saturn model lamp, ca. 1970.
Polished metal.
Measurements: 30 x 26 x 26 cm.

Pendant lamp designed by Kazuo Motozawa for Staff Leuchten, in the seventies. Motozawa is inspired on this occasion in the space age. The shade is composed of stacked chrome-plated metal rings, evoking the rings of Saturn. It has a chrome-plated round top cap, a chrome-plated tube and other metal components.

Kazuo Motozawa, born in 1945 in Saitama, Japan, graduated in 1968 from Musashino Junior College. After his studies, he designed lamps for Yamagiwa and was director of LD Yamagiwa Laboratory from 1977 to 1985. In 1987 he founded HALO Design Laboratory, Inc. Motozawa has exhibited his work on numerous occasions and has received several design awards.

Staff Leuchten, founded in 1945 by Alfred Staff and Otto Schwarz in Lemgo, Germany, began as a wood and metal products store. It soon grew into a renowned lighting company, winning more than 200 awards. Staff collaborated with companies such as Stilnovo, Raak and Lyfa during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1994, Zumtobel acquired the company.
