In very good overall condition. They feature a pleasant patina consistent with their age. One of them shows a small, older restoration visible in the photographs, which does not detract from the overall appearance or the pieces’ presence. Stable structure.

An elegant pair of sideboards whose design is characterized by the architectural simplicity of their lines—emphasized by the cylindrical side posts—and by the spectacular grain pattern of the walnut veneer, carefully selected and arranged symmetrically to make the wood grain the piece’s primary decorative feature. The composition reflects the principles of Italian design of the era, where the quality of the materials, the excellence of the cabinetmaking, and functionality come together in pieces of striking, timeless elegance. The absence of superfluous ornamentation—replaced by the natural beauty of the wood and by discreet circular metal handles—reveals the influence of Italian rationalism reinterpreted through a warmer, more domestic sensibility, characteristic of the designs of the 1970s and 1980s.
During these years, Italy consolidated its position as an international leader in furniture design thanks to the work of firms such as Cassina, Poltrona Frau, Tecno, Bernini, and Giorgetti, as well as designers such as Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Mario Bellini, and Luigi Caccia Dominioni. In this context, woodworking regained a leading role, moving away from the austerity of metal and plastic—characteristic of the previous decade—to celebrate the nobility of natural materials and masterful craftsmanship.
