In generally good condition with surface wear consistent with its age. Slight signs of use and natural patina on the wood and hardware. No apparent structural damage visible to the naked eye.

Italian-designed sideboard by Silvio Cavatorta, crafted from wood with
black metal legs topped with bronze feet. It features an elegant
composition of refined lines, with sculptural front doors and
a glass top lacquered in a dusty burgundy shade. A piece with great presence,
representative of the refinement of postwar Italian design.
Silvio Cavatorta was one of the most prominent Italian designers of the postwar period and a key figure in the consolidation of modern Italian design during the 1950s and 1960s. After beginning his career in Milan, he established himself in Rome, where he founded his own furniture workshop. His designs, intended for both residential interiors and representative spaces, were distinguished by the use of fine woods—such as walnut and rosewood—as well as brass, glass, and marble, combined with meticulous craftsmanship. In recent decades, Silvio Cavatorta’s work has undergone a significant resurgence in value on the international market; today, his work is considered one of the most significant expressions of Italian design from the second half of the 20th century, alongside that of figures such as Gio Ponti, Ico Parisi, Osvaldo Borsani, and Vittorio Dassi.
