The most distinctive feature of the Arc chair is its curved wooden frame, which forms a wide, continuous arch—hence its name—and serves simultaneously as both a structural support and an aesthetic element. The backrest and seat, with their enveloping and ergonomic shapes, integrate naturally into this structure, offering great comfort without compromising its image of formal purity. The wood—typically beech or ash, finished in natural or stained tones—is paired with high-quality fabric or leather upholstery, underscoring the piece’s sophisticated character.

True to Pascal Mourgue’s design language, the Arc chair dispenses with any superfluous elements to focus on the harmony of its proportions and the fluidity of its curves. Its design conveys a sense of almost sculptural lightness, the result of a careful balance between artisanal tradition and industrial innovation.

Pascal Mourgue estudió escultura en la Escuela Boulle, y posteriormente se graduó en la Escuela Nacional Superior de Artes Decorativas de París. Empezó a diseñar mobiliario en 1962, siempre primando la integridad artística por encima del éxito comercial. Este amor por el arte le ha llevado a trabajar en campos tan diversos como el diseño de veleros para Cartier, objetos de vidrio ornamental para Baccarat, la arquitectura, la pintura y la escultura. No será hasta los años ochenta cuando finalmente centre su carrera en el mobiliario para el hogar.
