"Female figure of fashion", ca. 1935.
Bronze.

Measurements: 28 x 11 x 11 cm.
Around 1935 Maria Perez Peix made the series of sculptures "Of fashion", composed of eight small figures of polychrome terracotta of which made a pull in bronze. They were full-bodied figures close to the Greek tanagers, far from classicism and more stylized, especially the female model promoted by Noucentisme.
The sculptor María Pérez Peix, also known as Teluro or Haydé de Teluro, was a disciple of Josep Clarà. She met Auguste Rodin in 1910. Although she had initially received musical training, it was her husband Eugeni d'Ors who encouraged her to devote herself to sculpture. In Madrid she met Miguel Utrillo. In 1929 she sculpted one of her best known works, the head of "La bien plantada", a classic Mediterranean ideal representing the young, healthy and strong Catalan woman. She signed her works with the pseudonym Haydée de Teluro or Teluro to hide her identity, as it was frowned upon for a woman of the high bourgeoisie to sign her name.
