The sculpture, made by the French artist Frédéric Focht, is a successful expression of the ideal of dynamism characteristic of the Art Deco period. Executed in patinated bronze and mounted on a Belgian black marble base, the work is characterized by a powerful sense of movement.
In the composition, a half-naked female figure projects forward on a sort of projectile, a symbol of speed and progress. The woman, with her body extended in a gesture of impulse, seems to merge with the machine. The figure emerges from a foamy sea swell, modeled with vigor. This resource gives the work a marked sense of strength. The greenish patina finish highlights the hallmarks, giving a sense of depth.
