The combined use of etching, carborundum and embossing generates a rich tactile surface, an essential characteristic in Clavé's graphic production. The forms, halfway between abstraction and figurative suggestion, refer to objects, fabrics or fragments of memory, integrated in a space of great visual density.

Clavé's work, present in institutions such as the Tate Gallery, the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, the British Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao or the Museo Reina Sofía, is today considered fundamental in the renewal of Spanish art in the 20th century.
