“Live Flesh” (or “Carne trémula” in Spanish) was very well received internationally and was selected to compete at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. It also received several nominations and awards, including nominations for the Goya Awards and a prominent presence at European film festivals. As a production by El Deseo S.A., CiBy 2000, and France 3 Cinéma, it also represents the consolidation of Almodóvar’s cinema as a benchmark of contemporary European cinema.
