The missionary saint of the Society of Jesus, San Francisco Javier, has been represented here according to the traditional iconography of the Sevillian baroque. The saint has already removed his heart from his chest and rests on a plate next to it. He points with his hand to the tear in the cloth where his heart has symbolically come out to be given to the Lord. The Lord appears in a portrait frame next to the Virgin. Stylistically, it is a tenebrist painting.
