This work is a follower of the painting of Jean Baptiste Oudry, painter who made a lot of excellent landscapes with animals and hunting scenes, as well as portraits, history subjects, still lifes, etc.. His fame became so great that he received offers from Czar Peter the Great and the King of Denmark, which he refused to stay in France, where he managed to build an important studio, with a large number of assistants. The painting shows a wild wolf howling incessantly because its paw has been caught in a huge trap. The animal's decomposed face responds to its contorted body due to the pain it is suffering. Ultimately a landscape typical of Flemish painting appears in the distance.
