Following old Flemish school models; Spain, 20th century.
Triptych.
Bone and wooden wing with silver coating.
Measurements: 27 x 22 x 1 cm.
This Spanish triptych from the 20th century, made following ancient models of the Flemish school, is a delicate devotional recreation inspired by the religious art of the Nordic Renaissance. The composition, of pointed format and folding structure, presents in the central panel a representation of the Assumption of the Virgin, surrounded by angels and enveloped in an atmosphere of mystical ascension, while the lateral wings show angelic figures and saints in an attitude of recollection. Executed with fine engraved and shaded strokes on a bone surface, the set stands out for its meticulous drawing work and its careful border ornamentation, where a taste for the linear detail characteristic of the Flemish tradition can be appreciated. The work, although modern, reveals a deep knowledge of the techniques and compositions of the sacred art of the XV and XVI centuries.
