Painter of basically self-taught formation, he became known in 1972. Grandson of a linotypist and son of a bookseller, he grew up in a world of passion for graphics, calligraphy and landscape, characteristic elements of his work. He was best known for his "Genographies", that is, simplified landscapes on which letters and other significant elements appear, producing an interesting sensation of movement. Genovart exhibited regularly in Spanish and German galleries, as well as participating in international exhibitions in Europe, America and Asia. He also represented Spain at the São Paulo Biennial, in Rijeka, at the New Delhi Triennial and in Alexandria.
