This small portrait depicts a court lady wearing a Neo-Renaissance ceremonial dress and sporting numerous jewels. Fragments of paillon and reflections with golden paint enrich the jewels and the clothes of the protagonist.
Born into an aristocratic family, Madame d'Ollendon (also called Caroline "de" La Ville-sur-illon, "de" Ollendon, Caroline "d' Ollendon) trained in Paris with Mile. de Maussion as a copyist and painter on porcelain and enamel. She exhibited at the Paris Salons between 1865 and 1881 and at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, where she received a bronze medal. Her work is present in institutions such as the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de Sainte-Croix in Poitiers. His works are very rare, except for a few religious pieces that are occasionally found on the market.
