BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Pair of vases in Empire style. Vienna, ca. 1900
Hand-painted porcelain.
With manufacturing marks on the reverse.
Measurements: 49 × 20 × 17 cm.
Elegant pair of Viennese vases made in fine porcelain, dated ca. 1900. Each piece stands on a cylindrical base of polychrome porcelain supporting the stylized Empire style vase embellished with gallant and pastoral scenes inscribed in medallions, executed by hand with enamel technique. The handles, in gilt, are modeled in the form of swans with curved necks. Plant motifs and musical instruments, all applied in gilt, contrast sumptuously with the purple background, evoking the aristocratic taste of the time. On the reverse side are preserved the manufacturing marks that certify its Viennese origin.
