DESCRIPTION
CORRY AMMERLAAN (Netherlands, 1947).
Pair of sculptural candlesticks, ca. 1980-1990.
Silver plated metal.
Measurements: 29 x 8 x 8 x 8 cm.
Pair of sculptural candelabra designed by the Dutch artist Corry Ammerlaan, conceived as small narrative objects where art and function merge in the same piece. Each candelabra develops a vertical composition of symbols and organic forms (eyes, birds and abstract elements) that build an open reading between the figurative and the imaginary. The silver finish and irregular texture enhance its sculptural presence and reveal the manual and expressive character of the work. Closer to a small sculpture than to a conventional utilitarian object, these candlesticks represent the most singular and unusual language within Ammerlaan's creative universe.
