Mohamed Sabry He was a key figure in modern Egyptian art and one of the leading exponents of impressionist realism in the Arab world.
His academic training began in Egypt, but in the 1950s, he received a scholarship from the Egyptian Ministry of Education that allowed him to move to Spain. There, Sabry became deeply integrated into Spanish cultural life, becoming deputy director of the Egyptian Institute of Islamic Studies in Madrid. His connection to Spain was so significant that he was awarded the Order of Isabella the Catholic in 1988 and was a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid.
Throughout his career, Sabry participated in more than 80 international exhibitions, both in Egypt and abroad. In Spain, his works can be found in renowned museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Granada, the Museum of Fine Arts in Cordoba and the Gonzalez Marti Museum in Valencia.
His artistic style is characterized by a deep sensitivity towards Egyptian daily life. He used techniques such as pastels and oils to portray genre scenes of rural and urban Egyptian society, as well as Islamic monuments of Andalusia and landscapes of Morocco. His work stands out for its realism and his ability to convey the essence of the cultures he represented.
Among his most outstanding achievements are the Civil Merit Medal in 1961, the Medal of Arts and Sciences in 1974 and the Queen Isabella Medal in 1988. In 1997, he received the National Award of Merit in Egypt, recognizing his contribution to art and culture.
Mohamed Sabry left an invaluable artistic legacy that continues to be a source of inspiration for generations of artists and art lovers in Egypt and around the world.
