EVARISTO BELLOTTI (Algeciras, 1955).
"NYC IV and II", 1988.

Measurements: 50 x 30,5 cm; 63 x 51 cm (frame). Each one.
First and foremost a sculptor, although he has also worked as a painter, Evaristo Bellotti began to make himself known in the early eighties in group exhibitions held in Madrid. His work is marked by his interest in the classical and the Mediterranean, and by the concepts of fragment, time, body, vestige, etc. Thus, his language seeks to find the keys where classical forms are combined with ancestral traditions, a model of syncretism and Romanization. In recent years, Bellotti has had solo exhibitions at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, the Museo Barjola in Gijón, the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz, the Bach Quattre gallery in Barcelona and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, as well as participating in important group exhibitions in Spain, Italy and Mexico. He has public monuments in several Spanish cities, and is currently represented in the MNCA Reina Sofía, the Spanish Academy in Rome, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alava and Moreno Galván, the City Councils of Madrid, Jerez de la Frontera and Calatorao, the Provincial Councils of Murcia, Almería and Cádiz, the Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art, the Postal and Telegraphic Museum of Madrid and the El Monte collection in Seville, among other public and private institutions.
