Multifaceted artist who has explored in diverse techniques and artistic styles finding an eclectic and very personal aesthetic language, Ocaña left his hometown in 1971 due to intolerance and marginalization, moving to Barcelona. In Barcelona he developed his career and spent most of his life in contact with artists such as Nazario and Copi. He painted mainly Andalusian virgins and altars, developing a language close to the "naïf". He made several exhibitions of his work, and in 1978 he starred, under the orders of Ventura Pons, in one of the pioneering films in Spain on the subject of homosexuality and also centered on his figure: "Ocaña, retrato intermitente" (Ocaña, intermittent portrait).
Bonaventura Pons y Sala, popularly known as Ventura Pons, is a Catalan film director, screenwriter and producer. After directing more than twenty plays, he shot his first film in 1977, "Ocaña, retrato intermitente", officially selected by the Cannes Film Festival. This was only the first of many films shot by the director, who has directed actors such as Rosa Maria Sardà, Aitana Sánchez Gijón and Jose Coronado, among others, achieving success both nationally and internationally.
