José Manuel Martínez Pérez graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, specializing in Sculpture. From a very early age he was interested in drawing, which he practiced in a self-taught way until he began his studies in Fine Arts, at which time he also began his work in modeling and the study of the classical tradition and the sculptors of the twentieth century.

Until 2001 he worked in his local workshop and began to exhibit in Huelva and Seville. In 2002 he moved to Madrid, where he opened his studio and since then has developed most of his artistic production. His work is represented at the MEAM (European Museum of Modern Art) in Barcelona.

He has carried out numerous public commissions in his homeland, including the Monument to the Sailor, the Monument to the Elderly, the Monument to the Farmer and the Homage to Reading, among others. He is also the author of the Antonio Gimbernat Prize for Excellence and Medical Research awarded by the San Carlos Hospital in Madrid.

He is currently an artist represented by Lleid'Art Gallery and teaches drawing at the Escuela Superior de Dibujo Profesional (ESDIP). His recent exhibitions include Contemporary Art of the 21st Century, permanent collection of MEAM in Barcelona, AlbaArte'13 at the Centro Cultural Los Alamos de La Antilla (Huelva), 2013, Miami River Art Fair 2012, Proponendo 2011 at the Javier Roman Gallery in Forte dei Marmi (Italy), and Fran Daurel Foundation, Barcelona, 2012.
