Nicanor Piñole

Piñole studied at the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, where he moved in 1892. Shortly thereafter he participated in the Great Exhibition of the End of the Century held by the City Council of Gijón. In 1901 he traveled to Paris and Rome, and on his return he settled in Gijón, although he made regular visits to Madrid, visited the Círculo de Bellas Artes and shared ideas with Santiago Rusiñol. Favorite son of Asturias, and corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he was honored on the occasion of the centenary of his birth with an exhibition held at the Jovellanos Museum in Gijón. Nicanor Piñole is represented in the Museum that bears his name in Gijón, as well as in the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias and private collections both in Asturias and in other parts of Spain.
