Elisabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti are considered, along with the Memphis group and Philippe Starck, as iconic designers of the 1980s. Together they developed interior decoration projects, in addition to the design of unique, exclusive and iconic furniture and objects. The story of the two began in 1979, when designer Elisabeth Garouste met the then art photographer Bonetti, who joined the interior design project of the famous restaurant Le Privilège, which she then managed with her husband. Bonetti participated by designing handmade terracotta masks by himself. In 1980, Garouste and Bonetti decided to collaborate together on furniture collections with an exhibition of their first joint collection at the Jansen gallery (rue Royale). An indissoluble, successful and long-lasting tandem was born.
