Version in gray finish currently discontinued and difficult to find, this set designed by Achille Castiglioni for BBB Bonacina represents a contemporary and rigorous interpretation of the workspace, where proportion, functionality and materiality are integrated with absolute precision.
The composition responds to a clear architectural logic: light horizontal planes supported by angled structures that simultaneously generate stability and visual dynamism. The independent auxiliary module expands the versatility of the system, allowing multiple configurations and reinforcing its reading as a structural ensemble rather than simply as furniture. The formal coherence between desk, chair and auxiliary furniture evidences the systemic approach characteristic of late 20th century Italian design.
The integral gray finish is not merely an aesthetic decision, but a conceptual one. Castiglioni eliminates any ornamental prominence to emphasize structure, assembly and proportion. This neutral shade - conceived decades in advance - anticipates chromatic sensibilities that today dominate contemporary design, lending the ensemble a timeless sobriety that is fully current.
BBB Bonacina produced this version as part of its modern furniture line, and the model is currently out of production. The presence of the complete three-piece set greatly increases its interest and rarity on the secondary market.
Achille Castiglioni, one of the central figures of 20th century Italian design and represented in institutions such as the MoMA in New York or the Triennale in Milan, stood out for his ability to unite technical rigor, structural clarity and vision ahead of his time. This ensemble is fully in that tradition.
