Created during one of the most representative decades of Jordi Vilanova’s work, this piece reflects his interest in structural clarity and the warmth of materials. Its design, likely conceived as a custom commission, is particularly consistent with Vilanova’s intense activity as an interior designer, documented in numerous projects for private residences preserved in his professional archive.

The spacious stained oak structure is organized by four distinctly vertical doors whose panels, upholstered in natural fabric, introduce hallmarks of texture and tone that visually lighten the volume. The small cubic handles blend discreetly into the grid of the front, while the interior, organized by numerous shelves, reflects an eminently functional design. The geometric simplicity and the prominence given to wood reflect Vilanova’s admiration for Nordic design, reinterpreted through the Mediterranean cabinetmaking tradition.

Trained as a cabinetmaker and interior designer, Jordi Vilanova played an active role in the renewal of Catalan design in the 1960s and 1970s; he was associated with ADI-FAD and the La Cantonada collective, and in 1964 he won a Silver Delta Award for his children’s stool. Several of his designs are part of the collection at the Museu del Disseny in Barcelona, an institution that also houses his professional archive, which contains extensive documentation on his interior design projects.
