Enric Franch was a leading figure in the world of design, both an intellectual and a creative force. He was born in Barcelona in 1943 and graduated from the Barcelona School of Social Sciences. In 1968, he began his career as an industrial designer, gradually expanding into the field of interior design and, in particular, exhibition design and museography, where he is a leading figure. He participated in the ICSID congress in Ibiza in 1973 as a member of ADI-FAD. He collaborated with the company Metalarte (National Design Award winner in 2004) for years as a consultant and designer. In 1975, he designed the Calder table lamp for this company—undoubtedly his most iconic product, a true symbol of the dawn of Spanish design, with international impact, and one that would eventually be featured in François Mitterrand’s office at the Élysée Palace.
