Carlo Scarpa was one of the most influential Italian architects and designers of the 20th century. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he graduated in 1926 and developed a special interest in glass, furniture, and the decorative arts from the very beginning of his career.In 1933, he began a significant collaboration with the prestigious Venini glassworks, which lasted until 1947 and resulted in some of his most renowned creations. He participated in the Venice Biennale beginning in 1932 and later in the Milan Triennale.Although his furniture output was relatively limited, his designs stand out for their experimental nature and their close relationship with architecture. As an architect, he carried out major projects in restoration, museum design, and new architecture, including the Canova Gallery in Possagno, the Olivetti Hall in Venice, and the Banca Popolare di Verona.
