Large-format Italian table lamp, made of translucent synthetic material with a tortoiseshell-effect finish and brass-toned metal structural elements. It features a flared base, a cylindrical shaft, and a wide hemispherical shade. When lit, the translucent material takes center stage, highlighting its amber tones and distinctive marbled appearance.
Due to its voluminous design, the use of translucent synthetic materials, and the combination with warm-toned metal, the piece bears a striking resemblance to the design language developed by Gabriella Crespi in her 1970s lighting fixtures, particularly the models from the “Fungo” series, characterized by their large dome-shaped shades and the use of materials capable of creating warm, diffused lighting.
Gabriella Crespi was a prominent 20th-century Italian architect and designer. Trained at the Politecnico di Milano, she developed—beginning in the 1950s—a body of work that straddled design, sculpture, and the decorative arts, characterized by the combination of organic and geometric forms with materials such as metal, brass, wood, and synthetic materials.
In the 1960s, she collaborated with Maison Dior, and during the 1970s, she achieved international recognition for her furniture, objects, and lighting fixtures with a distinctly sculptural character.
