The lamp retains its original manufacturer’s label and shade and bears the mark “FdC, Faïencerie de Charolles, since 1844, France.”

Founded in 1844, the Faïencerie de Charolles is one of France’s historic ceramic manufacturers. Its origins date back to 1844, when Hippolyte Prost, a native of the region, took over his father’s pottery workshop in Charolles, laying the foundation for a production that has remained active to this day.Throughout its history, the factory has produced earthenware and decorative and tableware ceramics, combining traditional techniques with a constant evolution in forms, glazes, and decorations. Among its historic designs, the “œillet” floral motif stands out in particular; introduced to the factory in its early years, it has become one of its signature elements over time.
Alongside its historic designs, the firm gradually incorporated new forms and collaborations with designers—especially during the 20th century—expanding its production to include decorative objects and design pieces. The manufacturer’s historical collection includes, among other items, vases and pieces from the 1970s, as well as pieces that have since been reinterpreted in new collections.In recognition of its preservation of this heritage and the quality of its production, the Faïencerie de Charolles received the French government’s Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) designation.
