Unique “Headlight” ceiling lamp, designed by Ingo Maurer during the 1960s, in the early years of his career as a lighting designer. The piece takes the shape of car headlights as its starting point, transforming an element from the industrial and automotive worlds into a lighting fixture with a distinctly sculptural character.
Ingo Maurer was one of the leading figures in international lighting design. After training as a graphic designer and working initially in Germany and the United States, he founded his own company, Design M, in 1966, later known as Ingo Maurer GmbH. Over the course of more than five decades, he developed a body of work characterized by experimentation with light, materials, and mechanisms, combining technology, humor, and visual poetry. His work was recognized internationally and received numerous awards, including the Compasso d’Oro. His lighting projects have been exhibited in venues such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Villa Medici in Rome, while his designs are part of major international museum collections, including those of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
