Designed by the Austrian studio EOOS for Walter Knoll, the Living Platform sofa embodies a contemporary approach to furniture design. Beyond its understated appearance, the piece incorporates a system of discreetly integrated mechanisms that allow its configuration to be adjusted to suit different uses. The armrests are adjustable and can be raised or reclined to function as an extension of the seat or as lumbar support. Additionally, a metal pull located at the bottom allows the seat to be moved forward and its depth increased, transforming the sofa’s configuration.
EOOS is an Austrian design studio founded in Vienna in 1995 by Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann, and Harald Gründl, all three of whom trained at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Since its inception, the studio has built an international reputation focused particularly on furniture and product design, collaborating with firms such as Walter Knoll, Carl Hansen & Søn, Alessi, Laufen, and bulthaup. Throughout its history, EOOS has received more than 250 international design awards and has participated in events such as the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale and the 2019 Milan Triennale. Their work is also featured in exhibitions at institutions dedicated to design and the applied arts.
