An elegant Italian floor lamp from the 1970s attributed to Carlo Nason, characterized by a stylized vertical silhouette and a refined form fully in keeping with the Space Age aesthetic. The truncated cone-shaped white glass body culminates in a large flared shade, also made of satin-finished glass, while the chrome-plated metal elements introduce striking hallmarks of material contrast and reinforce its technological character. An identical example is documented on the specialized market with these same measurements and attribution.
The piece is particularly striking due to the visual continuity between the base, shaft, and shade, which transforms a functional light fixture into an almost sculptural form. The white glass gently filters the light, while the chrome acts as a reflective counterpoint—a combination that is highly characteristic of Italian experimentation with new design languages and materials during the 1970s.

Carlo Nason, born in Murano in 1935, belongs to one of the historic families linked to the island’s glassmaking tradition. Trained from a very young age in the family workshop, he directed his work toward a contemporary interpretation of Murano glass, moving away from more ornamental styles to explore clean forms, essential geometries, and the expressive potential of opal and layered glass. From the mid-1960s through the 1980s, he maintained a significant collaboration with A.V. Mazzega, in addition to working with firms such as Vistosi, Carlo Moretti, Livio Seguso, and Leucos. His light fixtures are now one of the most recognizable and collected aspects of his body of work.
