A unique convertible piece of Italian-designed furniture from the 1980s, conceived to combine storage with a work surface or dining area in a single compact structure. When closed, it takes on the appearance of a narrow, vertical piece of furniture; via a folding mechanism, the large front panel unfolds and transforms into a tabletop, supported by a metal element.

Of particular interest is the reverse side of the tabletop, visible when the piece is closed: a relief composition formed by rectangular wooden pieces arranged at different heights, creating a dynamic geometric interplay and transforming the functional element into a surface with an almost sculptural character. The lower section features a compartment with two doors and glass shelves, while the upper section provides additional storage space.

The piece reflects the interest in Italian design during the final decades of the 20th century in multifunctional and transformable furniture, capable of adapting the domestic space through ingenious mechanical solutions. In this example, the minimalist structure is marked by hallmarks of contrast with the decorative treatment of the hinged panel, balancing functionality, efficient use of space, and a striking visual presence.
