Dalek's most famous character is the "Space Monkey", a monkey born from Marshall's love for Japanese pop culture, the "vibe" of the punk scene, street art and cartoons.

An artist and designer, Dalek worked as an assistant to Japanese Takashi Murakami. He took his artistic name as a tribute to the Daleks who were science fiction alien creatures from the planet Skaro and who became the most famous monsters in the BBC television series Doctor Who, which aired from 1963 to 1989. Dalek's work is critically acclaimed and has appeared in numerous publications, articles and magazines such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Juxtapoz, among others. He has also participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the U.S., Asia and Europe, and has painted several murals. He has also collaborated with major companies such as Nike, Hurley, American Express, Microsoft and Instagram. Dalek currently lives and works in North Carolina.
