BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Sculpture; XXI century.
Untitled.
Stone, iron, natural sea sponge and pigments.
Measurements: 34 x 10 x 15 cm.
Contemporary sculpture that stands as a visual testimony of the interaction between nature and artistic intervention. The work consists of an irregular stone base, of light tones and rough texture, which anchors a slender and curved structure, of intense blue color. The latter projects upwards, culminating in a bulbous, textured form, also of a vibrant blue, which evokes the appearance of a marine sponge.
The predominant use of blue in this sculpture inescapably recalls the figure of Yves Klein (1928-1962), one of the most influential and enigmatic artists of the twentieth century. In the context of this sculpture, the use of such a saturated blue and the organic form evoking a sponge can be interpreted as an homage to or a continuation of Yves Klein's aesthetic. The sponge was a recurring material in Klein's work, which he used to absorb and contain IKB.
