This Art Nouveau vase is an example of the creative freedom of the period, where the human figure and natural elements merge to elevate a functional object to the category of art sculpture. It is ovoid in form, with a circular foot and mouth, decorated in relief with two children fishing in a stream, with reeds and branches around them. Signed.
The sculptor Charles Théodore Perron, known for his genre sculptures and Art Nouveau decorative elements, was a pupil of Falguière and other masters. Perron exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1895, garnering numerous awards, including an honorable mention (1896), successive medals (1897, 1899) and a first class medal in 1910, as well as participating in the Universal Exposition of 1900.
