Art Deco bronze sculpture by Georges Gori, representing a timeless female figure in a stylized pose characteristic of the period. Of naked torso and serene expression, the figure rises with her arms raised behind her head, while her long hair falls in rhythmic waves that evoke the vertical folds of the draped skirt that encircles her hips.
Cast in France between 1925 and 1930, the sculpture reflects Gori's sensitivity to form, proportion and surface rhythm. The back view evidences the mastery with which the folds of the fabric intertwine with the flowing lines of the hair, generating an almost mirror-like effect in texture and movement. The attention to anatomical detail is subtle yet precise, endowing the figure with an understated sensuality.
Georges Gori, of Italian descent and active in Paris, exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1929, where he gained wide recognition. In 1931 he received a bronze medal for his contributions to the decorative arts. This work is signed "G. Gori" on the base, along with the inscription "Made in France".
