"Reclining young woman".

This feminine nude is inscribed in the mature production of Apel-les Fenosa, when his sculpture abandons any academic temptation to affirm itself as an organic, sensual poetics, deeply linked to nature. The female figure appears reclining in an attitude of serene abandonment, with a soft modeling that avoids strict anatomical detail in favor of continuous and palpable volumes. The body does not impose itself on the block: it seems to emerge from it, as if the material still retains the memory of the earth from which it comes.
Apel-les Fenosa Florensa was one of the great Catalan sculptors linked to the School of Paris. Trained with Enric Casanovas, he settled early in Paris, where he came into contact with the avant-garde literary and artistic environment. After the Spanish Civil War he settled permanently in the French capital, developing a very personal sculptural language, focused on the female figure and organic forms with natural roots. His work was widely recognized internationally and today is represented in major museums and collections, including the Rodin Museum, which dedicated a major retrospective to him in 1980.
