DESCRIPTION
Model of pulpit. France, 19th century.
Walnut wood.
Measurements: 70 x 30 x 30 cm.
Architectural model that reproduces with remarkable detail an ecclesiastical pulpit. The composition integrates the characteristic elements of this type of liturgical furniture -central column, staircase, polygonal tribune and turnstile crowned by a dome- resolved with a refined work of cabinetmaking.
The use of walnut, a noble wood highly appreciated in 19th century France, allows for a precise finish in moldings, panels and turned elements.
The piece has an evident aesthetic interest, evoking the historicism of the period, when the recovery of Gothic and Renaissance styles influenced the decorative arts.
This type of models were common in carpentry workshops, serving both as a technical guide and as a commercial tool for clients and religious institutions. Its careful execution and state of conservation make it an attractive testimony of the creative and constructive process in the field of sacred furniture.
